Most French courses are built for the average student. Nobody is average.
Classroom French tends to move at one speed and reward one kind of memory. Learners who need a second pass, a different route in, or simply a quieter room get left behind — and conclude they are bad at languages. They are not. The teaching was.
We built FluentPath around the opposite premise: start from how a person actually learns, then design the lesson around it. That means shorter blocks for some, heavy repetition for others, and written scaffolding for anyone who processes text more comfortably than speech.
The result is slower to plan and far faster to work. Students arrive able to say the things their week actually requires, rather than able to conjugate in the abstract.

FluentPath Academy is run and taught by Rim Al Safi. Rim has spent a decade teaching French across very different rooms — federal officials sitting provincial language tests, IB students in a preparatory school, and children with additional needs in an Ontario public school.
That range is the point. Preparing an official for a Level C oral exam and building an individualised education plan for a dyslexic ten-year-old draw on the same skill: working out how this particular person takes in language, then teaching to that.
Alongside teaching, Rim researches speech therapy and artificial intelligence at Hôpital Sainte-Justine, building machine learning models that help detect neurological development disorders. The inclusive methods used in FluentPath lessons come out of that work, not from a textbook.

Lessons rehearse the actual conversations: the standup, the lease, the clinic, the exam room. Feedback is immediate and specific.

Every few weeks we check progress against the plan and change it where it is not working. Plans that never change are not plans.
